This workshop presents observations and techniques from more than 20 years of being in private practice with couples and nearly two decades of guiding therapists through the unfolding moments of conjoint therapy. In his presentation, Jerome Front, MFT, will address how mindful awareness can be deployed in couples therapy, particularly with regard to increasing self-regulation and reducing emotional reactivity. This workshop includes the latest relationship research as well as meditative and contemplative views of relationship. Mind-body innovations will be described that bring healing into the heart of relationships.
There will be an emphasis on experiential and hands on learning. Experiential meditative practice will be included as well as a live demonstration of moment-to-moment work amidst volatile emotions. Participants will leave with knowledge and familiarity with step-by-step techniques that enable couples to deepen their expressive and receptive skills.
Jerome J. Front, LMFT, is a year-round Adjunct Faculty member in the Graduate School of Education and Clinical Psychology at Pepperdine University since 1999. In the year 2000, he created the first full graduate course in the country called "Mindfulness & Psychotherapy" countable towards degree credit.
